Shakespeare for Social Justice Workshop

Shakespeare for Social Justice Workshop
Training Actors, Teaching Artists, and Healers to work with Incarcerated Populations
Since 2003, Marin Shakespeare Company has shared Shakespeare instruction, drama therapy, and autobiographical playmaking with incarcerated populations who experience tremendous personal transformation, positive life choices, group bonding, and creative expression. It is heart-opening and mind-opening work that transforms lives, families and institutions.
This workshop will train theatre artists and healers in prison protocols and drama therapy techniques. Workshop participants will have the opportunity to apply to volunteer with programs at Old Folsom State Prison (Sacramento), Folsom Women’s Facility (Sacramento), California Health Care Facility (Stockton), Solano State Prison (Vacaville) and other facilities in Northern California.
