DMTC’s Young Performers Theater Announces Auditions

for All-Time Classic – The Wizard of Oz
Davis Musical Theatre Company’s Young Performers Theater announces auditions for its upcoming production of “The Wizard of Oz.” Jan Isaacson will direct and choreograph this all-time classic.
Auditions for “The Wizard of Oz” will be held on Monday, January 15 and Tuesday, January 16 at 4:30 p.m., with select call-backs on Wednesday, January 17, at the Jean Henderson Performing Arts Center, 607 Pena Drive, Davis, CA.
“The Wizard of Oz” follows Dorothy Gale of Kansas, who dreams of what lies over the rainbow. One day a twister hits her farm and carries her away to another world. Journey along as Dorothy, the Scarecrow, the Tinman, the Cowardly Lion and Toto travel the universe of Dorothy’s imagination. Enjoy the songs made famous in the classic MGM film, including “Over the Rainbow,” “Ding Dong! The Witch Is Dead,” “If I Only Had a Brain,” “We’re Off to See the Wizard” and “Follow the Yellow Brick Road.” “The Wizard of Oz” is everyone’s favorite movie fantasy, come to life on the stage!
Auditions require singing, acting and dancing at the director’s discretion, and auditioners must bring sheet music of a song they are prepared to sing (do not use a song from the show). A piano accompanist will be provided; no recorded music or a cappella singing. The production offers many roles for experienced and new-to-the-stage boys and girls, ages 7-17, plus 18 year-olds who are still in high school. Newcomers are warmly encouraged.
The general rehearsal schedule is 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, beginning on Monday, January 22. Not all actors will be called for every rehearsal. Performances are: Saturday, March 10, 2018-2p,; Sunday, March 11, 2018-7pm; Saturday, March 17, 2018-2pm; Saturday, March 24-2pm; Friday, March 30, 2018-7pm & Saturday, March 31, 2018 at
