DMTC’s Young Performers Theater Announces Auditions on March 12-13
for Family Favorite – ‘Seussical, Jr.’
Davis Musical Theatre Company’s Young Performers Theater announces auditions for its upcoming production of “Seussical, Jr.” Brian McCann will direct, with Johnathan Blum musical directing.
Auditions for “Seussical, Jr.” will be held on Monday, March 12 and Tuesday, March 13 at 4:30 p.m., with select call-backs on Wednesday, March 14, at the Jean Henderson Performing Arts Center, 607 Pena Drive, Davis, CA.
“Seussical, Jr.” transports audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus, with the Cat in the Hat narrating the story of Horton the Elephant, who discovers a speck of dust containing tiny people called the Whos. Horton must protect the Whos from a world of naysayers and dangers, and he must also guard an abandoned egg that’s been left in his care by the irresponsible Mayzie La Bird. Although Horton faces ridicule, danger and a trial, the intrepid Gertrude McFuzz never loses faith in him. Ultimately, the powers of friendship, loyalty, family and community are challenged and emerge triumphant!
Auditions require singing, acting and dancing at the director’s discretion, and auditioners must bring sheet music of a song they are prepared to sing (do not use a song from the show). A piano accompanist will be provided; no recorded music or a cappella singing. The production offers many roles for experienced and new-to-the-stage boys and girls, ages 7-17, plus 18 year-olds who are still in high school. Newcomers are warmly encouraged.
The general rehearsal schedule is 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, beginning on Monday, March 19. Not all actors will be called for every rehearsal. Performances are every Saturday at 2 p.m., April 28 through May 19, plus Friday, May 18 at 7 p.m., Sunday, May 20 at 2 p.m. For more information, please visit www.dmtc.org.
