Ballet Classes at WOH

The Importance of a Solid Dance Foundation with Ballet
When considering a quality education, school curriculums include a strong core foundation based on Math and English Language Arts. Without a grade-level understanding of those key subjects, students may have challenges when learning other subjects that rely on key concepts.
With dance, many dance styles are based on classical ballet: Jazz takes key ballet concepts and “tweaks” them to add attitude and personality, Lyrical and Contemporary dance may infuse technique from ballet and modern dance, and even Broadway Style Tap has shown influences from classical ballet.
Ballet not only allows young dancers to learn discipline, muscle coordination, flexibility, and musicality, but it prepares any young dancer with the right dance tools and technique to progress in many other styles. Being that we are a theatre-based company, we encourage young dancers to learn all styles that would assist them to grow successfully as a dancer within musical theatre: ballet, jazz, and tap. Our program allows for dancers of all ages to develop these techniques with plenty of options for the beginning to advanced dancer.
If you are interested in classical ballet for your dancer, or would like to add on a ballet class taught by any one of our experienced instructors, please check out the schedule online or register online today!
