Auditions for City Theatre’s remount productions of “Mr. Burns, a Post-electric Play” by San Francisco playwright, Anne Washburn.
In March 2020, City Theatre was in mid-performance run for “Mr. Burns, a Post-electric Play.” We all know what happened then. Now it is 2021, and we are going to complete that original run. We have nine returning members of the original eighteen person cast and crew and are looking for eight to nine new cast members.
“Mr. Burns, a Post-electric Play,” is an inspiring, funny, transformative, and strangely prescient play about the aftermath of a global disaster and the resilience of the survivors. Its three acts show the recovery several months, seven years, and seventy-five years after the disaster through the survivors’ collective memories of The Simpsons, and consequently the reemergence of theatre through storytelling, traveling comedy troupes and ritual.
Auditions are Monday, August 30 at 7:00 pm in the Main Auditorium (PAC 150) at Sacramento City College.
The show rehearses beginning September 2, and plays Thursday through Sunday September 30 – October 10.
Auditions will consist of readings from the script, and a short singing audition.
Please sign up for an audition slot on the City Theatre’s website: https://www.citytheatre.net
